A Collaborative Relationship with the UT College of Pharmacy
Holston Medical Group patients and providers benefit from HMG’s collaborative relationship with the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy. HMG’s relationship with the UT College of Pharmacy began in 1999.
Today, working within HMG Integrated Health Management, patients and providers the expertise of three co-funded clinical pharmacists within HMG who also teach and lecture at the University’s Knoxville campus. Additionally, they provide oversight for a one-year post-doctoral pharmacy residency program funded by the College.
HMG serves as the host site for the one-year residency program as well as for a monthly rotation of UT clinical pharmacy students.
This collaborative relationship results in HMG patients benefiting from a more intensive management of many chronic care conditions (hypertension, anticoagulation, lipids, heart failure, diabetes). These specially-trained clinicians and educators also provide an invaluable service called “Medication Regimen Management & Assessment” within HMG Integrated Health Management.
