Cassie Blackwell, FNP, joins Holston Medical Group’s team of highly qualified providers who are here to support patients through all of life’s moments. She will provide care at both the Bristol and Johnson City locations for The Urology Clinic; 240 Medical Park Blvd., Suite 1600, Bristol, TN, and 2340 Knob Creek Rd, Suite 720, Johnson City, TN.
Blackwell began her career as a registered nurse in the Tri-Cities. During this time, she learned firsthand how important understanding patients on a personal level is to create a positive health outcome. She plans to carry this experience forward at The Urology Clinic, which specializes in diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment for men and women in the fields of laparoscopy, cryosurgery, urinary incontinence, and the treatment for urologic cancers, including kidney, prostate, and bladder.
“As a nurse practitioner, taking the time to know my patients on a personal and professional level helps us work together to develop an individualized treatment plan that will work well for them,” said Blackwell. “This includes learning everything from their daily habits and limitations to their insurance coverage. These are important factors that we take into consideration to help our patients navigate their care options.”
Like her colleagues, she is dedicated to collaborating with patients to build trusting relationships to continue providing high-quality, cost-effective care. “Insurance can be a big factor in their care, and sometimes we must get creative and explore other options to ensure our patients’ physical, mental and financial wellbeing are all taken care of,” stated Blackwell.
Blackwell received her Master of Science degree in nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner at Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, TN, and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Johnson City, TN.
Blackwell enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter. She likes baking and specializes in sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls. When she is not baking, you can find her and her family on the lake and playing with their pet Rottweiler.
