Holston Medical Group announces the addition of Tara Etter, DO, to its team of highly qualified providers at HMG Pediatrics in Abingdon, VA., located at 391 Falls Drive NW. Dr. Etter joins Dr. Sarah Seeley-Dick and Dr. Lindsay Brianna Lancaster in delivering pediatric care, supporting the community in navigating their healthcare needs, and establishing healthy lifestyle choices for a lifetime of good health.
“My passion for caring for pediatric patients was ignited immediately when I did my pediatric rotation during my training,” said Dr. Etter. “I believe that I have an opportunity to help young people early in their health journey, setting the foundation to avoid health complications later in life.”
Dr. Etter brings a deep dedication to pediatrics, emphasizing preventive care and personalized medicine to help children build healthy habits early. “Habits begin early with healthy eating, immunizations, and other preventive measures that can significantly impact a child’s future well-being,” she explained.
Dr. Etter’s experience as a mother of three young boys has deeply influenced her approach to pediatric care. “Having my first son during residency gave me a unique perspective—I’ve faced the same worries and challenges of other parents,” she said. This personal point of view also fuels her passion for breastfeeding counseling. “I understand the challenges parents face when it comes to feeding their infants. I am committed to providing compassionate support and know how vital personalized care is during this often-difficult and stressful time,” she added.
Dr. Etter’s philosophy aligns with HMG’s commitment to whole-person healthcare; she provides families with personalized, empathetic care from a trusted provider at an affordable cost. Dr. Etter will assist patients by providing well-child checks, chronic medical care, specialized care, and acute care in the outpatient setting.
Dr. Etter earned her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA., and completed her pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Georgia in Augusta, GA.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Etter and her husband enjoy spending time with their three young boys on their family farm, coaching and watching their boys play sports.
