Holston Medical Group is pleased to announce that Darren Ramsey, MBA, CHCIO, CCIE, CISSP, HMG’s chief technology and chief information security officer, recently became a certified healthcare IT executive through the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives CIO (CHCIO) program. Ramsey’s achievement demonstrates the commitment, knowledge, and experience HMG values across all sectors of its business.
The CHCIO program is the only certification designed exclusively for leaders in health information technology. It represents one of the highest professional achievements in the industry with more than 800 healthcare CIOs and IT executives globally earning the designation. As the healthcare industry continues to evolve, so do the technological strategies needed for Ramsey to lead HMG’s IT team to maintain the strongest security and streamlined infrastructure that balances cost savings, security, quality and reliability.
“Healthcare is undergoing a massive transformation,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell Branzell, CHCIO. “We are shifting to a value-based environment, improving coordination across the continuum and striving to reduce costs. Health IT is critical to achieving these goals. The CHCIO designation is a recognition that a CIO has the skills necessary to be a strategic leader in the organization.”
To achieve his CHCIO status, Ramsey was required to have at least three years of experience in his position, participate in programs and events that continued his education as an IT leader and pass a rigorous examination. He will use his new certification to remain dedicated to ongoing education and ensure HMG’s technological operations continue to support secure, high-quality, cost-effective care.
“We are proud of Darren for earning the CHIME CIO certification. He is a true representative of Holston Medical Group and our prioritization of ongoing education and adaptation to support the evolution of our local healthcare landscape,” said Dr. Scott Fowler, President and CEO of HMG. “Darren’s robust understanding of information technology and how it intersects with the healthcare industry is a core element of how HMG operationally drives better outcomes for our communities.”
